  • Take the PSAT in October
  • Continue to build strong academic and critical thinking skills in math & English by taking challenging courses.
  • Study hard and keep your grades up. You need 3.5 GPA to be eligible for the National Honor Society.
  • When you receive results of the PSAT in December, review the information sent with your score report. Go to and review the areas
  • needing improvement.
  • Stay involved in your co-curricular and community service activities. Take a leadership role if offered.
  • Take the June SAT Subject Test if you have a B+ or better in any of the subject tests given.
  • Check out the Guidance Department’s Library of Colleges
  • Continue to research career options and consider possible college majors that will help you achieve your career goals.
  • Use your summer wisely: READ, READ, READ….study for the PSAT…Take a college course or participate in a special program
  • (e.g., for prospective engineers or journalists or for those interested in theater or music)…do community service or participate in a leadership program.
